The Band are sad to announce that long-serving band members Lee Fairburn (Solo Euphonium) and Bernice Pinegar (Percussion) are to retire from the Band.

Lee, who has spent 30 years with the Band on the Solo Baritone and Solo Euphonium chairs will step down after the busy Christmas season, whilst Bernice with 28 years service, retired from playing duties following our success at the recent Pogson Bray contest.

Bernice will however continue to work within the Band as she will retain her Librarian and Committee roles.

The Kippax Band has welcomed Mason Hirst and Colin Eastwood to their trombone section ahead of the busy Christmas season. Additionally, a familiar face has returned with Denis Ruddick joining the cornet section.

Mason has moved to Leeds from Nottingham to study at the city's College of Music, whilst Colin has been with the band for a little while. They are joined by Paul Stevenson who has moved from cornet to BBb tubas and brings with him a wealth of experience.

Commenting on the new arrivals MD Ian Knapton told 4BR: "It's great to welcome these new players.

Over the last year we have gone through a rebuilding process which has seen great rehearsals and excellent audiences at our own band club concerts."
