New recruits bolster the ranks

The Kippax Band has welcomed Mason Hirst and Colin Eastwood to their trombone section ahead of the busy Christmas season. Additionally, a familiar face has returned with Denis Ruddick joining the cornet section.

Mason has moved to Leeds from Nottingham to study at the city's College of Music, whilst Colin has been with the band for a little while. They are joined by Paul Stevenson who has moved from cornet to BBb tubas and brings with him a wealth of experience.

Commenting on the new arrivals MD Ian Knapton told 4BR: "It's great to welcome these new players.

Over the last year we have gone through a rebuilding process which has seen great rehearsals and excellent audiences at our own band club concerts."

Success at Pogson Bray contest

The Band recently competed in the Pogson Bray contest in Elland. We were delighted to come away with 1st place in the mandatory ‘March’ section and an overall second place in an eleven-band field.

Congratulations to East Riding of Yorkshire who took overall 1st place on the day.
