Cabaret weekend proves a hit

The past weekend saw the Band undertake its annual themed cabaret evening, with a special guest conductor thrown in for good measure!

This year’s theme was GB v USA and saw the Band Club decked out in the Union Flag and the Stars and Stripes. The programme featured plenty of the band ‘on their feet’ with solos from Nigel (Sugar blues) & Faye (Bring him home), a duet from Lee & Colin and a wonderful flugel horn and trombone feature of Stevie Wonder’s ‘You are the sunshine of my life’.

A new addition to our front line cornet bench proved that she is not only a fine player but an excellent singer, as Emma gave a lovely rendition of ’Somewhere’ from West Side Story - well done Emma!

Both evenings drew a full house at the club and the band were led by a familiar face to many, in the shape of our friend and former MD David Lancaster. David answered our call at short notice last week and stepped in to lead the band superbly over the whole weekend.

A huge thank you to David from all of the band, it was great to catch up and share some fun and music making.
